Non Traslucent Menu Bar In Leopard

You're viewving a non traslucent menu bar in leopard, and you dont' why? Apple explains why it occurs. The problem is because the graphics card is not compatible with Core Image.

"Some graphics cards, such as an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, may not have the necessary OpenGL capabilities to display a translucent menu bar even though they are compatible with Core Image. Those cards should render most effects, but not the translucent menu bar."

Leopard: Serious Error, Copiyng Files

A serious error has discovered on leopard. If the connection is lost when you're moving data from network or external drive, the files that you're moving will be lost. I think apple knows this big error and is working hard to repair it. I expect in the next week a Leopard update will be released.

Mac Os X Leopard Upgrade DVD

I have received the DVD the last Monday, as you can see in the photo the DVD doesn't have box with tridimensional logo. The package only contains the "Wellcome Book" and the DVD. Another interesting thing is before you install it the installation program scan the computer finding the Tiger image to upgrade. Conclusion: if you have a blank mac you can't install leopard with this DVD, you must to install Tiger first and then updgrade.

Also I try to install Leopard in a old Power Mac G4 400 Mhz and the installation program verifies the MAC type, and if is not supported you can't install it. Really in this computer sometimes Tiger runs slowly, I think the OS X update on this computes has finished. :(

Dashcode : First Impresions

First Impressions About Xcode Developer Tools 3.0

Dashcode: Very amazing and easy development way to Widgets.

There are a few of templates:

Navigation menu with objects hierarchy

You can add objects with drag and drop.

Establish break points in JavaScript Code. Very usefull. Because JavaScript is an interpreted language program, not precompiled, and you can do a lot of coding mistakes.

The Dashcode app is in the Leopard installation DVD, you can also download it form the developer site of apple, with the XCode 3, installation image. You must to register as developer.

You can download a widget to read the rss of appleresearch, was made with a template about in five minutes or less :)

Using Photo Booth With Power Book G4 Without iSight

You can use the Photo Booth utilitie to make your own photos with a standard usb web cam. Is very easy. You need to install the maccam app to manage web cam, the link: maccam. The installation guide is in the dmg image. And when you connect your usb web cam you can begin to use the photo booth utilite. It works with leopoard because in this mac os x version the photo booth app is in the apps folder, also the FrontRow App. This is a little result:

Using an iPod as Mac Os X Start Up Disk

It's very easy. Only we need to put the iPod as disk mode, an then install the OS in the iPod. You can install it, without restart the computer, using the next executable in the Mac Os X DVD : \System\Installation\Packages\OSInstall.mpkg.

The next steep to start from the ipod is restart the computer, pushing alt key to select the start disk. This utilitie will find bootable OS in all the computer units. And the iPod must appear.

I test it with FireWire 400 Mbps and it runs well. You can use it if you want to have different OS versions.
